God bless their souls, and comfort their families.
Even in training, their flight profiles are unbelievably hairy and dangerous.
Condolences to the families and friends of Terrance Geer, Robert Johnson, Paul Jackson and Chad Tucker.
America’s finest.

What blows me away is that the Blackhawk doesn’t perform very well at 14,000 feet. It is an amazing helicopter but its lift seems weak at high altitudes.
Such a tragedy. Flying any vehicle in mountainous terrain is dicey under the best of conditions.
Thank you for your kind reply.
God bless you, and these troops and their families!
from UH-60 Black Hawk Service ceiling: 19,000 ft (5,790 m)
Service ceiling and performance are two different things. 12,500 is about maximum for decent performance for any helicopter with 14,000 being a limit for stable hover. I suspect 19,000 would be if the aircraft was flying at cruise speed and in stable air under stable flight.
Hovering ceiling I.G.E. ISA ft 20,000 Service Ceiling ft 20,000 I guess that is why "Flight for Life" uses
