You forgot to obey the rule!
Yeah, you know you’re about to get screwed when your side starts using the term “nuclear option”. Seems like they talk about it, you get your hopes up, and then you find yourself covered in radioactive rhetoric while your side’s leaders are safe in their bunkers congratulating themselves on the “great deals” they made with the opposition.

I’m so thankful that Juan McCain and Lindsey Graham and others joined the Gang of 14 to prevent the Republicans from using a nuclear option to end Dim filibusters, and to allow a vote on dozens of Bush judicial appointees. They prevented that so Dims wouldn’t use nuclear tactics against Republicans in the future, and other attempts to skirt Senate rules such as clay pigeons during the 2007 amnesty debate.
Old Juan and Lindsey sure saved us from nuclear options, and preserved the comity and traditions of the Senate. What foresight and leadership!
