Great thread... thanks.
Makes we want to go buy a hummer, a parka, and build a fire in the backyard.
Sorry..., I like words, sentence structure and meaning... :-)
Lol. Understood....but so boring.
A light shines in the darkness..and the darkness shall never overcome it.
Our faith is a bit different I suppose.

A key item in regards to that thinking, that I was mentioning...
Chicago Statement on Biblical Inerrancy with Exposition

The “Chicago Statement on Biblical Inerrancy” was produced at an international Summit Conference of evangelical leaders, held at the Hyatt Regency O’Hare in Chicago in the fall of 1978. This congress was sponsored by the International Council on Biblical Inerrancy. The Chicago Statement was signed by nearly 300 noted evangelical scholars, including James Boice, Norman L. Geisler, John Gerstner, Carl F. H. Henry, Kenneth Kantzer, Harold Lindsell, John Warwick Montgomery, Roger Nicole, J. I. Packer, Robert Preus, Earl Radmacher, Francis Schaeffer, R. C. Sproul, and John Wenham.
The ICBI disbanded in 1988 after producing three major statements: one on biblical inerrancy in 1978, one on biblical hermeneutics in 1982, and one on biblical application in 1986. The following text, containing the “Preface” by the ICBI draft committee, plus the “Short Statement,” “Articles of Affirmation and Denial,” and an accompanying “Exposition,” was published in toto by Carl F. H. Henry in God, Revelation And Authority, vol. 4 (Waco, Tx.: Word Books, 1979), on pp. 211-219. The nineteen Articles of Affirmation and Denial, with a brief introduction, also appear in A General Introduction to the Bible, by Norman L. Geisler and William E. Nix (Chicago: Moody Press, rev. 1986), at pp. 181-185. An official commentary on these articles was written by R. C. Sproul in Explaining Inerrancy: A Commentary (Oakland, Calif.: ICBI, 1980), and Norman Geisler edited the major addresses from the 1978 conference, in Inerrancy (Grand Rapids: Zondervan, 1980).
Clarification of some of the language used in this Statement may be found in the 1982 Chicago Statement on Biblical Hermeneutics

We already have God’s precise Word and His *direct witness* to all the events of the real and actual history of this world that we need to know about, enough to be able to determine these things that we talk about. And the “tool” that mankind uses for his own knowledge, “science” also testifies to those same things that God does (insofar as science has the ability, which it doesn’t have unlimited ability), and it is in accord with God’s Word...
Domine, defende causam tuam!
Well, if this were a Papal Bull, then maybe there would be some concern. But, these are Evangelical Christians who speak in common for the Word of God...
And besides, God will soon be rising to His own defense and judgment in the soon-coming Great and Terrible Day of the Lord... :-)

[... and He’ll be speaking for Himself, at that time... LOL...]
Thanks for the ping.
I don’t profess to know God’s will.
Only his law. : )

You said — I dont profess to know Gods will.

You should, as that’s why God gave us His Word.... :-)
As it says... “... for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus for you.”
The following is the context for that...
1 Thessalonians 5:1-28
1 But concerning the times and the seasons, brethren, you have no need that I should write to you.
2 For you yourselves know perfectly that the day of the Lord so comes as a thief in the night.
3 For when they say, “Peace and safety!” then sudden destruction comes upon them, as labor pains upon a pregnant woman. And they shall not escape.
4 But you, brethren, are not in darkness, so that this Day should overtake you as a thief.
5 You are all sons of light and sons of the day. We are not of the night nor of darkness.
6 Therefore let us not sleep, as others do, but let us watch and be sober.
7 For those who sleep, sleep at night, and those who get drunk are drunk at night.
8 But let us who are of the day be sober, putting on the breastplate of faith and love, and as a helmet the hope of salvation.
9 For God did not appoint us to wrath, but to obtain salvation through our Lord Jesus Christ,
10 who died for us, that whether we wake or sleep, we should live together with Him.
11 Therefore comfort each other and edify one another, just as you also are doing.
12 And we urge you, brethren, to recognize those who labor among you, and are over you in the Lord and admonish you,
13 and to esteem them very highly in love for their work’s sake. Be at peace among yourselves.
14 Now we exhort you, brethren, warn those who are unruly, comfort the fainthearted, uphold the weak, be patient with all.
15 See that no one renders evil for evil to anyone, but always pursue what is good both for yourselves and for all.
16 Rejoice always,
17 pray without ceasing,
18 in everything give thanks; for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus for you.
19 Do not quench the Spirit.
20 Do not despise prophecies.
21 Test all things; hold fast what is good.
22 Abstain from every form of evil.
23 Now may the God of peace Himself sanctify you completely; and may your whole spirit, soul, and body be preserved blameless at the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ.
24 He who calls you is faithful, who also will do it.
25 Brethren, pray for us.
26 Greet all the brethren with a holy kiss.
27 I charge you by the Lord that this epistle be read to all the holy brethren.
28 The grace of our Lord Jesus Christ be with you. Amen.
And thus will the Christian find the will of God — in His Word...
Well, I guess I’m just one of those weirdos who doesn’t have much problem reconciling Genesis with a Earth billions of years old. (Actually, I think Genesis is surprisingly accurate: Given the comprehension of those who received it, and those who passed it along, God MUST have been inspiring them.) But... that’s a different argument...
As for the rest of the discussion, well, we have no basis for discussion. “Recent measurements” are far too short a slice of data to really tell us much. Strange — that’s what I keep trying to tell the “we are all going to be boiled alive” crowd, too.
:-(
A couple of questions for AGW advocates (saw these somewhere else earlier today)
1. If as AlGore asserts, global warming is “settled science,” why do you continue to need hundreds of millions of taxpayer dollars to try to find evidence for it?
2. Since the present temperature is nowhere near either previous highs or lows in the planets history, and there is no evidence that it is likely to move outside that range, then why is this such a big deal right now?
Since anything we do will have a very small - possibly detectible - effect on our climatic future, it would be a much better policy to use the bulk of any research money on developing techniques for adapting to climate change.
In the tiny slice of earth’s history we can call recorded history, the fact is that the warm periods are the “good” and the cold periods the “bad” times.
I imagine we would fare better in a replay of the Medieval Warm Period than in another “Little Ice Age” or even worse in a return of the real ice age which ended 13,000 years ago.
Something to give serious thought to is that in the climatic record, severe cold is by far the planetary norm. Warm periods like we now enjoy are the exception. We should be careful what we wish for — we, and our descendants, may get it.
Thank you.
