I have read the handbook. I am 77 years old and I and my wife have a Living Will and a Health Proxy. I have friends in assisted living communities who post their Living Wills and Health Proxies on their refrigerators. Last year I visited a friend who was without family every day for three months in a nursing home.
There is nothing with that handbook and has nothing to do with Sarah's reference of a bureaucratic ‘death committee’ medical actions. Her reference had to do with others, not self or family, making decisions about providing what to who and when. The booklet helps a person and or the family made the decision. Believe me you want to plan YOUR OWN standards for who, when and where of your final care. I will repeat the booklet is helpful, if it were targeted to the bureaucracy on how to make the decision, you would have a complaint.
