Mexico hit by lowest rainfall in 68 years

MEXICO CITY - Mexico is suffering from its driest year in 68 years, killing crops and cattle in the countryside and forcing the government to slow the flow of water to the crowded capital.

Below-average rainfall since last year has left about 80 of Mexico's 175 largest reservoirs less than half full, said Felipe Arreguin, a senior official at the Conagua commission, which manages the country's water supply.

"We have zones where the reservoirs are totally full but others that don't have even a drop of water," he said in an interview late on Tuesday.

More than 1,000 cattle have been lost due to lack of rainfall, and up to 20 million tons of crops managed by 3.5 million small farmers are at risk of being lost, agriculture groups say.

The arid northwest region of Mexico has been hardest hit, along with the central part of the country surrounding Mexico City where 20 million people live.

Mexico typically has a rainy season from around June to October, topping up lakes and reservoirs that supply much of the country's water during the rest of the year.

The El Nino weather phenomenon, a warming of the seas in the Pacific Ocean, has induced a dry spell in South America and is likely partly to blame for Mexico's lack of rain, experts say.

Authorities have reduced the flow from the Cutzamala series of dams and rivers more than 60 miles long that supplies a quarter of Mexico City's water to ensure enough is available until next year's rainy season.

Trucks are delivering water to some parts of the capital where cuts have made the flow of water intermittent.

Time to store FOOD! FOOD! FOOD! and plenty of it, because Mexico is not the only country that will soon not be able to feed their people. India, South America (Argentia has ban export of a number of foos products) and most of Afica is in serious trouble. How long till the Obama and his socialist thugs agree to share and share alike and everyone starve together?

This drought may be partly responsible for Mexico’s legalizing drug possession.

The U.S. no longer keeps any food reserves so what you see is what you get. I have no idea how much is out there in the pipeline, it could be a lot or it could be a little. Farmers are known to lie to the government.

I know that there are a lot of farms idling in California and there has been bad drought in the dryland area of Texas and this after having a bad crops last year.

I hadn’t heard about the seed storage project that Bill Gates and some other people put up and don’t know if it is true or some conspiracy theory.

One thing I do know is that we are not going to be able to feed the world if we have to go back to open-pollinated seedstock.

Just great ! Obamacare will be FREE to anybody crossing the border into the U.S.

In Oregon, any warm body can qualify for a 'eat for free' card. The same rules apply in California and Washington. Free food, free medical care, free low wage jobs. Everything is free in Obama Land.

With both a food crisis and H1N1 starting in Mexico hundreds of thousands will flock northwards. That will mean a total breakdown in medical care and social services. There is a wide-spread drought in Texas and California. Small farms are being eased out or taken over by large agri-business operations. Already there are rumors about a food crisis in section of the U.S. This insanity is got to stop pretty soon or else America is doomed.

It is easy to see Martial Law and Civil War coming in months.

It is easy to see Martial Law and Civil War coming......... With a food crisis and H1N1 in Mexico, hundreds of thousands will flock northwards......means a total breakdown in US medical care and social services. Wide-spread drought in Texas and California means small farms taken over by large agri-business. Already there are rumors about a food crisis in section of the U.S. Stop the insanity....... or America is doomed.

Americans need to be very vigilant: Obama and his loathsome COS Rahm Emanuel are very calculated in their use of power. As dissent among the populace grows, they are capable of plotting staged events to boost their advantage.

CITIZEN ALERT Obama/Rahm are purposefully antagonizing large groups in middle America, goading us into civil unrest. This would give these America haters an excuse to declare Martial Law and a complete suspension of your civil rights. And if vigilant Americans tell Obama to stuff his odious ObamaCare, there's the DHS plan with a complete suspension of civil rights.

Americans for Limited Government President Bill Wilson reports: "We now know for a fact that DHS was monitoring political speech and thought----and groups and individuals who oppose abortion, immigration, gun-control." Wilson concluded: "DHS' response to our FOIA request unfortunately confirms in no uncertain terms that their hunt for 'rightwing extremists' was more than a witch hunt."

"Not a single study or report was from any government source...there was no evidence of any actual active recruitment of 'disgruntled veterans'.......no evidence showing that folks who purchase guns or oppose gun-control legislation are necessarily dangerous..." DHS Secretary Janet Napolitano falsely maintained that they were on the lookout for "criminal and terrorist activity" but did not monitor ideology or political beliefs."

======================================

COMMENTS "Monitoring," my Aunt Tilly--- the Obama government was conducting surveillance on Americans and intended to use the power of gov't to restrict Americans' Constitional freedoms. Obama okayed this atrocity against Americans..............precipitated by the trillion dollar TARP, nationalizing banks and auto industries, and passing (for themselves) stimulus campaign slush fund. With what they've already accomplished no wonder ObamaCare means mass production for the Obama/Rham/Zeke "magic end of life pill."

And they call conservatives Nazis and racists.
