Is it possible that the U.S. will actually break up into smaller regional countries? Are there any history professors or sociology professors here who could explain how that will work out. I’d like to refrain from constant Civil War stuff because War is always an act of aggression and there have been hundreds of countries who dissolved without one side trying to force the other side to just obey. Unless I’m wrong, and that’s where the History Professor could help me out.

Well I had read early this year of a writer who wrote for the Russian Provda saying this country will break up in a few years time.

I'm just a working class guy who is into history a lot but I just think that throughout history, a lot of large empires become corrupt, bloated, lazy and overcontrolling to the point where something goes wrong and they break up. We have been in an ideological cold war since the 1960's and I believe this is the main catalyst for a breakup although you cannot ignore other factors like ethnic, race and so on, unfortunately, but overall the main split is ideological. You have tow main views of America, one the traditional where you make it by yourself with little or no governmental interference with no welfare state or at least a welfare state just enough to take care of those who truly cannot take care of themselves for medical reasons. The other side wants a socialist state like any other country in Europe to even a Communist state. These two diametrically opposed views cannot coexist, one pulls the country one way, the other takes it in an opposite direction, at some point something will blow. We here believe that America should stay as it was.
The bad thing is if this happens, some outside power could panic an start an atomic war, perhaps Russia or Red China, and along with an internal split the Feds will lose power and cease to exist with the possible exception of a "rump USA" surrounding the DC area. Although territory will play a plat, it isn't as decisive as it was curing the Civil War.
I guess "new countries" you could see is a "rump USA," "Ecotopia" in the Northwest, "Deseret Republic/Empire" in Utah, a "New Confederacy," and so on. You might see the likes of Aztlan, a Black Republic or even a small "Aryan Nation" in Idaho. There will be others too.

“...War is always an act of aggression...”
Could you expand on that a little with an emphasis on the American Revolution?
