JUST as long as the hospital checks immigration status

How exactly would they do that?

Ask for standards of proof - green card, passport, birth certificate, driver license, etc.

ALSO, check ICE database - ‘specially with GSW’s (gang-related) ...

Thats what they do in Prince William County, VA at the jail ...

EVERYONE charged with an offense is checked ...

The time/place to check immigration status is at the time of employment.

Everyone needs a valid SSN to work in this country. Your employer reports it to the Feds. If they name/SSN don’t match, you can’t work. Simple as that. The problem would clear on its own, as work is what pulls people to this country illegaly.

Every objection I’ve seen to this is just a straw man to throw up some roadblock. Technologically it’s easy (we already do it in fact, we just don’t enforce it.) The empoloyers already supply the information, so it isn’t a burden on employers at all.

The potential mistakes in the SS database are said to be 600,000 (out of a country of 350,000,000, but still probably exagerated since that is a number opponents quote.) That’s a number that can actually be dealt with on an exception basis. Especially if you grandfather in anyone that is currently working (notifying them of a discrepency and so they can get it fixed before they change jobs sometime in the future.) Grandfathered employess wouldn’t face a problem till they changed jobs.
