[”Basic Standard Of Decency”)
I’ve got your “Standard of Decency” right here. How about you stop stealing money from our pockets to pay for your ‘basic standards’ crap.

We had our chance when we were the ones controlling the WH and the Congress.

I’m convinced WE never controlled the WH or congress.

I concur. There’s not even a need to deport most illegals — we just need to make staying here so difficult and untenable that they freely choose to leave.

I absolutely agree. Same with Johnson and welfare, voters for life. This is why they have no use for the retiring baby boomers and the elderly

Reply to reply: The appropriate taxes and fees have been added to your imports, have a nice day.
What are they going to do invade us, they are all already here. Start hitting the Mexican oil companies and expatriate manufacturing firms and they will first scream at us, then scream at their own government. Once the taxes on their imports get higher than the cost of building the fence Mexico will build its own little Berlin wall to keep its people in.
And the other reason this will work is because of the greed of the US politician. Look at it this way, you are the mayor of LA. You can tax your own people and risk getting voted out of office. Or have the Treasury Department collect the money from people in another country who can't vote. Choices choices.

Sowell would “tsk tsk” you.
Adding taxes and fees (ie, tariffs) on imports only hurts the consumer.
I still say, treat and deport. It solves a LOT of problems - mostly, frivolous use of emergency rooms.

Ask for standards of proof - green card, passport, birth certificate, driver license, etc. Everybody, or just the brown people? There's no law requiring people in America to supply ID just for being here. You can't withhold ER care from someone just because they don't have ID.
Thats what they do in Prince William County, VA at the jail ... EVERYONE charged with an offense is checked ...
A hospital is not a jail.

In the healthcare bill - as currently written, they issue you an ID card (or call it an “insured” card) ...

He’s right. Basic standards of decency mean that illegal immigrants have to be treated - stabilized.
But when they’re stable they should be deported.

Adding taxes and fees (ie, tariffs) on imports only hurts the consumer.
Up until the New Deal era tariffs were the main source of revenue for the US government. It is just a cost of doing business here. Look at it like a flee market. Before you sell anything you have to pay they organizer set up your table.
Note these would not be protective tarrifs designed to keep a product out. We just want the money we are owed, nothing more, but nothing less. If they don't want to deal with the tarrifs just cut us a check. Don't care how they pay us, just as long as they do. The advantage of the tarriff is that they don't have a choice.
The bills need to be paid, even if you deport after treatment. The two options are not mutually exclusive, and are in fact complimentary. The more that are deported, the lower the tarrifs need to be.
Once the bills are paid the tariffs come off. And if your country doesn't have an illegal immigrant problem, Germany, France Canada etc. then there is no terrif. So only consumers of products from countries with illegal immigrant problems are impacted. But if the bills are paid using internal revenue, as they are now, then every consumer pays as part of their taxes.

I’d love to return to the days of no income taxes
and a federal government whose “services” could
all be funded with tariffs.

I guess I shoulda been more clear - you do treat them, if life-threatening ...
You diagnose them, if not ...
Then, you pack their asses back to the “mother ship” ...

That can probably be said of everyone on this site. Of course they don't teach that in school any more. God forbid the kids learn that there was a time when the government was small, lived within its means, and stayed out of the peoples' business. If they learned about that they may ask for it back again.

Yeah, you’re - sadly - probably right.
Seems that big money was and remains in control but now zero is taking care of his money friends AND socking it to the taxpayers.
