President Obama has promised huge cuts in medical spending. In fact, he has warned that, if America fails to make such cuts, it will face financial Armageddon.
"Make no mistake: the cost of our health care is a threat to our economy ," Obama told the American Medical Association in Chicago June 15. "It is a ticking time bomb for the federal budget. And it is unsustainable for the United States of America. If we fail to act, one out of every five dollars we earn will be spent on health care within a decade. And if we fail to act, federal spending on Medicaid and Medicare will eventually grow larger than what our government spends on anything else today."
To avoid this catastrophe, America must make drastic cuts in health spending, says Obama. The size of his proposed cuts varies from speech to speech, but the figure cited most often by Obama's advisers is 30 percent per year up to $700 billion annually.
A 30-percent annual cut is going to take a big bite out of somebody's health care. The only question is whose.
The numbers make clear that most of these cuts will have to come at the expense of those who need health care the most the elderly, the disabled and the gravely ill.

You know that “30%” cut in healthcare spending is going to about double or more government spending, right?
and how many UK patients get semi-private rooms?? They still have wards!
“The numbers make clear that most of these cuts will have to come at the expense of those who need health care the most the elderly, the disabled and the gravely ill.”
so much for democrats standing up for the downtrodden. how about cutting the $$$ the govt gives to people who are able to work?
he went to Bath and came out dirtier than when he started
‘the elderly, the disabled and the gravely ill.”

Wagner's doctor prescribed Tarceva, a pill which slows cancer growth. There was a good chance it might extend her life by a few weeks or even months.
At age 64, Wagner had two sons, three daughters, 15 grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. Every moment she could spend with her loved ones was precious.
But Oregon's health commissars nixed the plan. Her Tarceva treatment would cost $4,000 per month. Wagner was going to die anyway, so why waste the money?
Wagner received a letter stating that the Oregon Health Plan would not approve any treatment for her "that is meant to prolong life, or change the course of the disease " However, if Wagner opted for physician-assisted suicide, Oregon would be happy to pick up the tab, said the letter.
Physician-assisted suicide is legal in Oregon and costs only about $50.
"It was horrible," Wagner told reporters. "To say to someone, we'll pay for you to die, but not pay for you to live, it's cruel. Who do they think they are?"
Well, today Obama said he is God's partner in matters of life and death.
How is that for arrogant??
Death by actuary panel ... at least some in the private insurance industry will get jobs with the final solution to the social security&medicare deficit.

I DEARLY hope the Blue Cross/Blue Shield “manager” who asked me “Don’t you want health care for everybody?” finds her ignorant arse on welfare, waiting for “gubmint” treatment.
Ohhh scare piece. I love scare pieces! They’re very effective of the emotionally unstable.
arrogant? that’s way beyond arrogant. it’s very creepy
True, Obama is quite the scaremonger.
tell me about it
We can start with the hangers-on and sycophants surrounding Barack and Michelle Obama who are living the opulent life of the ancient Pharoahs.
It is the cost of government that is bankrupting the United States.
So if our healthcare system is so bad why is life expectancy going up, especially when burdened by the death of young from crime?
In a seemingly unrelated vein I was discussing the healthcare reform proposals with one of my partners when it occurred to me that "success breeds success". One reason our healthcare costs have gone up is because what we do works! The services we provide help people live longer lives with more freedom from suffering! Isn't that what the oath we take is all about? The reason more and more of the GDP has gone into healthcare over the last 20 years is because we are providing a service that is working. That is what free markets are supposed to do, isn't it?
We allow libtards to set the premise that "healthcare costs too much" and start the debate there. We have ceded our "game of chess" from the opening move! If folks decided they wanted Cadillacs and more and more of the GDP went into Cadillacs would that be a BAD thing? What happened to the old saying "instead of asking for a bigger piece of the pie let's make more pies?" If healthcare is consuming more and more of the GDP is that the fault of healthcare? Maybe what that really tells us is that THE REST OF THE ECONOMY IS FAILING? Could that be? What we need instead of healthcare reform is reform IN EVERYTHING ELSE. Lower taxes, less gummint, laws enforced (hat tip to Denninger), people invest without fear, jobs are created (real jobs not gummint service jobs) and the rest of the economy can begin to succeed LIKE HEALTHCARE HAS.
Just a few thoughts.
The cost of government has bankrupted America, not health care!
Government's deficit spending and it's un-constitutional and fascist laws, regulations and practices is the real crisis.
Reform, reduce, ration and control health care Government spending NOW!.
THE democrats will never cut spending.
No one knows how much money was given away by “the Fed”, nor does anyone know who got the money or where it will be used.
This Jerk wants to limit Healthcare, How Stupid.
