WFTV: The debate over health care reform got rowdy again Tuesday, this time in Brevard County. The legislation in front of Congress right now has led to a lot of angry debates across the country.
Tuesday, the AARP tried to answer questions from some angry residents there. They all came here to be heard and, with no other public forum offered by congressional leaders in Brevard County, they turned to the AARP to demand answers.
"Why wouldn't AARP insist the government fix Medicare and Medicaid and Social Security before we discuss anything?" one attendee asked.
More than 300 Brevard County residents packed the Senior Resource Center in Viera. A resounding majority of them told the AARP they did not want the so-called "public option," where the federal government provides an insurance plan to compete with the private sector.
Many fear companies will drop private insurance and force them into the government plan and one senior wanted to know why the AARP hasn't publicly opposed it.
"I want to know why you have not done that. I resent that you have not done that," one senior said.

I’ve got a feeling that Obama and his toadies at AARP will be pulling some senior discount cards after this.
DeathCare is designed to SCREW seniors and baby boomers and give their Soc Sec and Medicare to illegal aliens and Obama voters.
I have thought this all along and Dick Morris said the same thing last night on Hannity.
so much for FDR and LBJ
anyone got a link to barney fwanks town hall???
Those are my feelings also. La ‘RATSAs need this to make sure the illegal aliens continue to show up at the voting booths.
Pleeeeze,
Some senior with deep pockets start a competing association and use this issue to nab the majority of their membership. This is truely the third rail..... we should pound it home 24-7
there are but AARP is bigger than big. it is the most powerful liberal org in the country.
What also concerns me is will our VOTE matter?
ACORN has been well funded by Obama.
It’s a crying shame that it’s not 2010. Then we could wipe the slate clean. People are angry at Demoncrats.
you ar correct...it should be called what it is “the redistribution of health”...the same as nobamas other main agenda “the redistribution of wealth”
Just returned from the AARP Town Hall...It was well attended...packed out!!...by concerned American citizens who were well informed!! It was 99.99 percent anti-ObamaHealthcare!!then laterThe AARP rep wouldnt even give them the microphone... She had ONE mic and made everyone raise their voice to be heard!!..(probably where the MSM get angry citizen speaks at Town Hall.)
AARP had been planning this for months & only planned for ONE LOUSY microphone!!..The rep was the loud voice heard, she had the microphone!!!! It was discourteous, to say the least!
The people of Brevard were WONDERFUL!...even when they had to strain their voices to speak & be heard, they were articulate, informed, very INFORMED!...(I had an opportunity to speak up too!)Bravo, Guenevere. Well done. The AARP waffled, repeated herself and wouldnt share [the] mic:(
The news teams were there, even Fox.
Love the guy in the hat!
I almost wish I were a member so I could join the volksmarch to the American Seniors Association.
.
Dittos to that! bttt
But I got so incensed when the AARP Rep said, from the beginning, that she would repeat the question & keep the microphone...
..I forgot my questions and simply wanted to address this and this alone.
At first she begrudgingly gave the mic to the first few people right in front of her...(& off to the side you could hear voices say...'Give them the mic'....
..but then she kept it the duration of the 2 hours and said she would repeat what they said.
She did, more or less, at first...but then she didn't even do that.
The problem as I saw it, was one of control...
If you control the mic, you control the event!!!
I was there, seated in one of the chairs for the first 100 (which is all the room was suppose to hold)...
..the remainder (of 300) were crammed along the sides of the wall, in the back, and into the halls...(watch the video, you'll see)
IT was HOT...the room was very close and stifling...
..and these senior citizens, who had taken the time and energy to be there, weren't even given the courtesy of a microphone.
There they sat, some with canes, wheelchairs, hearing aids and told to 'speak up'....
It just made me mad!
When I did speak, I addressed the discourtesy of making these folks....who feel they have no voice in the matters at hand....
..yell to be heard.
It made my point...
....I think she was there to cross it off her list...
..I think she was disingenous, insincere...
..and I am offended!
#16...definitely for you too!!!...Thanks!
Democrats hate old people!
