(IsraelNN.com) Leading United States Republican and former Governor of Arkansas Mike Huckabee toured Jerusalem neighborhoods on Monday. In response to questions regarding the Obama administration's push to end Jewish construction in majority-Arab neighborhoods, Huckabee said forced segregation between Jews and Arabs would make peace impossible.
"We tried that in the United States. We had neighborhoods that were all white, black people couldn't go there. It didn't work out real well for us, he explained.

Huckabee is too stupid to be President.
I can’t believe some people still think he’s Presidential material
We didn't have black people trying to kill white people with car bombs, rockets, and anything else they could get their hands on as a rule either.
Where are the dingbats who voted for this moron and got us McCain?
Stuff a sock in it Huckleberry. These two groups have too much bad blood between them and too much history of warfare to make it to where they’d never be able to live side by side.
It works in Saudi Arabia just fine. Non-muslims who’d dare enter the segregated cities of Mecca and Medina are executed.
Last week Bob Dylan was detained after finding out that there are certain neighborhoods he can't walk into as a white man in the 21st century.
Romney would have been much more disastrous for republican turnout and we would not have Palin in the national scene right now.
Sure, tear down the wall, integrate....Hundred of lives have been saved by that RACIST WALL!
Sounds like Jimmah Carter and Huckabee have lots in common.
Following their lead, Israeli citizens would have LOTS IN COMMON......CEMETERY LOTS!
What is it with these morons who can’t make any statement without denigrating America? You expect it from the Democrats. AHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!
Per the exit polling, most of those voting for him in the primaries listed McCain as their second choice. (... and it would be educational to see the remainder of the quote, by the way.)
" Standing next to a new Israeli housing compound wedged into the Arab neighborhood of Abu Dis and abutting the looming cement security barrier, he compared placing restrictions on where Jews can live to the racial segregation of his childhood in the American South, saying, "I can't understand it at all.""
"Our primary concern ought to be whether or not Iran is weaponizing nuclear material, not whether 20 peaceful Jewish families happen to be moving into a neighborhood in their own country,"
Huckabee also compared the talk of having Jerusalem partitioned so that it would be under the control of two governments, one Israeli and one Palestinian, to the US and Canada trying to share control of Detroit. "It's inconceivable that two sovereign governments claim control over the same piece of real estate," he said. "I don't know how it's workable."
Born again Christians who wanted an articulate Christian candidate and not a Mormon empty suit or a tired out old man.
You signed up today to post Hucksterbee?
Sniff....
There was nothing in what Huck said that was incorrect. There was segregation in America from the end of the Civil War up through the mid 1960’s. There were lynchings and race riots.
Huckabee is a Christian conservative who loves Israel. I can only conclude some Freepers here denigrate him the way liberals denigrate Sarah Palin.
It HAS to stop.
So Huckabee is a “moron”? What makes you so high and mighty?
Maybe Huckabee can continue pandering to foreign audiences on his "What's Wrong With America Tour" and inform us all of what else we've done wrong historically.
I hope he includes the fact that we fought a war that killed hundreds of thousands of our young men on behalf of the aggrieved minority in question.
If he's not a moron, he should be able to make his points and inspire his listeners without TRASHING HIS COUNTRY!!!! When he stops being an imbecile, I'll stop calling him one.
lol.
Articulate?
Huckabee’s views on taxes, defense, Israel and the role of government are nearly identical to Reagan’s. What happened to him in the primary is that the Club for Growth, after getting a lot of money from Romney, brought out a big hit piece on his record that was wildly distorted and endlessly posted and reposted here. A lot of freepers continue to believe that crap, and call Huckabee a “socialist” or a “tax-and-spender,” even though it was debunked by everyone from Huckabee himself to Michael Medved to the NY Times.
They continue to irrationally hate Huckabee, and seize on anything he says to slam him. For example, look at this story, which they obviously didn’t bother to read. Some of the nasty posts above miss the point of what he was saying entirely or use only half the quote. It would be embarrassing if it weren’t so infuriating.
BTW, before you start warming up your flames: I’ve been on FR since 1998, am a former Freeper of the Week for catching the Craig Kilborn “Snipers Wanted” outrage, and I’ve known Gov. Huckabee personally for over 10 years and chat with and email him regularly. I’m a lifelong conservative whose dad founded our local Republican Party and helped Phil Gramm get elected and whose brother worked at the RNC, writing speeches for GOP candidates nationwide, and on some issues, Huckabee is to the right of me. He’s also the most decent, honest and down-to-Earth person I’ve ever met in politics. If he’d been the nominee, what we would’ve had was a younger, articulate, witty, pro-life conservative candidate with 10 years of successful executive experience and proven appeal to minorities, blue collar workers, young people, Southerners and Christian conservatives. God forbid!
Huckabee didn’t give us McCain; Huckabee could have saved us from McCain, but we have that phony Romney’s moneybags and deluded believers in Fred Thompson (who I warned people would NOT be a serious candidate before he ever even announced) to thank for slandering Huckabee and giving us McCain. But by all means, go ahead and quote the Club for Growth to me again. I’m sure you know Mike Huckabee far, far better than I possibly could. /rant
