LA MARQUE, Texas – U.S. Sen. Kay Bailey Hutchison says Texas Gov. Rick Perry is "trying to stay too long" in office and has proposed putting a limit on how long a governor can serve.

Hutchison made the proposal as she announced her candidacy for Texas governor on Monday in the city of La Marque (luh-MAHRK'), where she grew up, as part of a 19-city campaign announcement tour that runs through Friday.

The state's senior U.S. senator has said she is stepping down from that post in order to run against Perry in the March 2010 Republican primary.

NOWAYKAY!!!!!!!!

I pray to God that Texas does NOT elect that RINO to the governorship! I also hope they elect a good conservative to replace KBH. Plus, Perry has the endorsement of Sarah Palin, and that carries a TON of weight in Texas.

GO RICK PERRY, 2010!

Kay Bailey Useless would be one of the few folks worse than Rick Perry.

I don’t live in Texas but 98% of the things I read about Gov. Perry I really like.

She’s been in Congress for what, sixteen years now?

I just have one question, “What has she done in all of those years?”

Governor “Rick” is not perfect, but head and shoulders better than KBH. In my opinion.

I am from his home county, not one of his strongholds. Yellow dog dem country.

Politics is the “blood sport” of Texas.

Football on Friday night, but rest of the time it is the game that is watched.

The state still has a lot going for it. And Governor “Rick” has not done all that bad at running it as far as the economy is concerned.

I think Schieffer could present a challenge, even though he’s a Rat, many think of him as a conservative because he’s associated with W, going back to their days as owners of the Texas Rangers.

In your opinion which would have the best chance of beating Schieffer? KBH or “Rick”

I think that Perry will much tougher to beat than Kay.

Remember that Kay refused to help campaign against Barbara Boxer, because she didn’t want to “campaign against another woman.”

I think Schieffer would get a lot more Republicans to vote for him, over Hutchinson, than over Perry.

KBH needs to stay home and raise those two human “Pets” she and Ray adopted a few years ago. She is viewed by many as a Washington insider, which of course she is having voted for the stimulus bill. Perry has done a good job as Governor and should win easily.

He's an idiot about highways (aka Capitan TollTag) but everything else he's good to go on.

I agree, a long time friend who is a Dem State Representative was talking up KBH. I knew when he did there was a reason, he sees her easier to beat.

There is more to my exchange with him, but not here.

Perry
Right on the highways
Right on fiscal responsibility

Wrong on forced vaccines (what the heck was he thinking?)

KBH
Rino
Forced DFW residents to have higher cost of airline flights because of her intervention in the Love Field dispute.
Go away Kay

Some choice, choosing between two RINO’s, but Kay would be much worse.

As a Texas voter, I don’t feel we have a very good choice for the republican candidate. But I will vote for the lesser of two evils and vote for Gov. Goodhair!
