I wonder if taking Vitamin D before you were given the vaccine would help prevent any of the side effects? My daughters are both in the Navy and will most likely be required to get this vaccine. I’m more than a little concerned for them.

I can’t address the issue of Vitamin D preventing vaccine side effects but it certainly can’t hurt them. If I were you, I would advise your daughters to inform their medical department that they “just learned” that a relative on your side of the family experienced a serious side effect from the ‘76 flu vaccine and your personal physician stateside advised you that they probably shouldn’t take any flu shots in the future.

(”side effect” = witnessing the results scared the living bejesus out of you, lol)

Just a thought! Good luck!

re: vitamin D

You can get vitamin D from exposure to sunlight. Just get outside 20 minutes a day. (La Leche League lesson)
