Political Insider Health care activism forces Dick Armey to resign 4:44 pm August 14, 2009, by Jim Galloway
Former U.S. House majority leader Dick Armey is the keynote speaker at Saturdays anti-health care reform rally in Atlantas Centennial Park.
But as of today, hes also underemployed. This from Politico.com:
Former House Majority Leader Dick Armey (R-Texas) is resigning from DLA Piper law firm amid a wave of negative attention his grassroots organization, Freedom Works, has drawn for helping to organize protesters at health care town hall meetings with members of Congress.
In an interview Armey said that he was concerned about the media scrutiny the health care protests were drawing to the firm he has been associated with since retiring from Congress.
The firm is busy with its business, and shouldnt be asked to take time out from their work, to defend themselves of spurious allegations, Armey said. No client of this firm is going to be free to mind its own business without harassment as long as Im associated with it.
In a statement, DLA Piper Chairman Frank Burch said the parting was mutual.
yep, class act. these republicans are the ones who “class acted” conservatives into this mess we are in now. no say over nothing. nothing to do but raise cain in townhall meetings.
i’m tired of the benefit of the doubt. those words mean that conservatives lose every time. how about the benefit of the damn truth for a change. wouldn’t that be novel??
Why ruin the law firm? What’s the point in doing that? Instead, he now has more time for Freedom Works.
who says he won’t be more effective at leadership on this issue by quitting his job?
Seems to be working OK for Sarah. She gets as much coverage for sitting home posting on Facebook as Bambi does flying Air Force One across Americna and speaking at staged rallies.
That’s Rush’s name for it.
With 3,700 lawyers located in 29 countries and 67 offices throughout Asia, Europe, the Middle East and the US, DLA Piper is positioned to help companies with their legal needs anywhere in the world.
if there is anything we should have learned from eight years of “bush is evil” crap is that the squeaky wheel gets the most grease. the example of bush letting libs define him is the one we should learn from. instead, we allow it to happen again and again. i say ENOUGH!!! don’t retreat, hit’em until their eyes water.
I’m sick to death of folks sitting behind a keyboard who complain about what others do or don’t do for the ‘cause.’ Armey gave up his position with this law firm so he could be an activist in a cause he believes in.
What have you personally sacrificed for the cause?
“DLA Piper is positioned to help companies with their legal needs anywhere in the world.”
unless they are conservative, then push them off the edge by all means.
why sacrifice anything?? this country is now about “what’s in it for me”. the repubs were just as big a duck in the pond with their lack of leadership kow-towing to the left everytime they stub their damn toe. when out elected leaders grow some balls maybe it will inspire folks like myself to personally sacrifice something. it’s stupid to sacrifice when the altar is made of cardboard by cowards.
Oh please! Armey was no longer an asset. The honorable thing to do was leave. And he did.
Your hysteria is silly. Is Palin a coward because she quit when she was no longer effective? Give it rest.
Rachael Maddow accused Armey's Freedom Works of organizing some of protests at some of the Town Hall meetings on behalf of those insurance companies.
Maddow and Armey are scheduled together on one of the news shows tomorrow morning.
why, because some lib commentator declared it so and made an inane blathering point about it??? better run to the hills because olberfart made a smelly noise.
See post 34. Better Armey leave than be accused of improprieties.
always. anytime olberfart accuses then we’d better run huh??
liberals lie about their political and monetary connections and it’s just fine. conservatives take it in the kiester over and over again. it’s disgusting. period.
The info in post 34 could hurt Armey’s efforts. I now think that he needed to leave in order to fight....the same reason Palin resigned. Sarah is much more effective now than before. I hope that proves true for Armey as well.
