S.C. Johnson Denies They Pulled Ads from Beck
Despite Wild Claims from Boycotters, Few Companies Confirm They've Cancelled Ads

Several in our community have received the following email from SC Johnson...

Patricia,
Thank you for sharing your concerns as there is some potentially misleading information on the web about this topic.

SC Johnson has not pulled or cancelled advertising for the Glenn Beck show, as we never directed our advertising to this particular program. In general, our goal is to provide good, informative ads and we select those programs and/or networks that make the most sense given our consumer base.
Regards,
Denise

Clearly advertisers who had previously said they were withdrawing ads from Glenn's show are now feeling the pressure of thousands of loyal Beck fans expressing their anger and threatening to go to their competitors for business. It's becoming clear that a handful of 40-something losers blogging in their Mom's basement managed to put an initial scare into these companies, and many of them made a BIG mistake in cancelling their ads.

Now they will find out how big an economic force is 2.4 million viewers who actually work for a living.

Thanks for the info. Just sent them an email reminding them that their decision proves their management is not patriotic and therefore those of us who are patriotic will no longer purchase any of their products. Reminded them that most Americans are patriotic and we will broadcast their unpatriotic message on everyone of our 72 websites to our patriotic visitors.

Just as often, boycotts DO work.

True, boycotts created dolphin safe tuna, free range chicken and hormone free beef. A free market will respond to the consumer given sufficient time and commitment. We just need to keep the pressure on and support those that share, or at least do not actively oppose, our beliefs.

This is an excellent idea.

None of these companies want the kind of negative publicity a “highly motivated and large group of Americans looking for ways to support liberty and freedom” can generate.

Exposing the political agenda behind business decisions these companies make may be every bit as much impact as the effects of any ensuing boycott.

Here’s a quote from the response Geico sent to a message protesting their decision to pull advertising from Beck:

“It is of little benefit to us if a program gets so much attention that our message is drowned out.”

Maybe seeing their little gekko displayed on signs carried by protestors as road kill will send Geico a message about the kind of “attention” they have brought on themselves by kowtowing to the Thugocracy.

I listen to Glenn daily on the AMer here and then catch him at 5PM on Fox.

I can honestly tell you I can’t recall seeing any of these sponsors on his programs.

I see tons of P&G ads on women’s interest channels (e.g. WE, CW, Lifetime and the major nets during daytime) almost never at night. P&G sells consumer goods and targets likely shoppers. Likewise S.C. Johnson.

There’s something fishy here. It would be helpful if Glenn would confirm some commercial sponsors have actually wihdrawn.

Plus, the lefties — aren’t they anti-capitalist? Use one square of TP, don’t eat meat, build 400 square foot homes, ride bicycles not cars. What does a leftie boycott mean, really?

I think we should start referring to them as the Establishment, which they are in some ways. That would REALLY bug the old hippies.
