Reader Kelly e-mails that Colorado Democrat Rep. Betsy Markey is hiding from her constituents and refusing to hold a public forum during this long, hot congressional recess.
So Kelly has graciously taken the opportunity to convene a town hall for Rep. Markey and extended an open invitation. If the congresswoman doesnt show, her voters will have a placeholder ready

I realize that this will not get much national coverage, but it cannot but help to get some reportage at the local level
THIS IS ABSOLUTELY BRILLIANT and though I wish I had thought of it, I say lets put this wonderful lady's inspiration to good use and apply it wherever anyone runs into the same situation
Spread the word far and wide.
Kudos Kelly and God Bless
Here is her note to Michelle:
Hi Michelle,
Thought youd get a kick out of this grass-roots movement we have going on here in Northern Colorado. This all started with a rant I made to a few of my buddies in an email, complaining that our rep, Congresswoman Markey, is nowhere to be found! Here we are 2 weeks into a 5 week recess, other reps are having 2-3 townhalls to meet demand while this crazy health care debate is raging, and Markey has only issued a vague statement about small public gathers, schedule to be release probably next week!
Thats unacceptable, and were doing something about it! I mentioned in my rant that we should hold our own town hall and put a big empty chair up there on stage where our elected Rep. should be!
Well, one thing led to another and here we go. Well video the entire affair and hand deliver it to her office along with petitions and letters that anyone who turns out is free to give to us.
Id rather be fishing with my boys, but Ive reached a tipping point this year and Im not going to be silent anymore!
Wish us luck!!!!
Regards,
Kelly Trosper
woo hoo! Great idea! God be with you all.......
Great idea.
Absoluely brilliant. I hope they can find a life size cut-out of Markey to stand up at the podium. You could ask question and then film the cardboard cut out just standing there. Wouldn’t that be a hoot?
The republican that is running against the dem. congressman Parker Griffith did the same thing here in Huntsville. He held one on Wednesday night and Griffith was invited. Griffith keeps saying he is going to have one but never gives time or place, so the pub took it upon himself to arrange the time and place for him. “) Then Sen. Jeff Sessions had one Thursday morning at the same place in H’ville & again an invitation was extended to Griffith. I really don’t think he is going to be re-elected.
This sounds like a highly funded conspiracy by some right wing extremist group. The idea is too brilliant to be from an ordinary citizen. //sarcasm off//
I think “she” is a he.
I read it as a polite way to call him a pussy.
Note on Congress on Your Corner listening session format:
In order for as many 4th District residents as possible to speak directly with Rep. Markey, residents will join groups of 15 -20 people for public listening sessions. 4th District residents are asked to arrive no more than 30 minutes in advance of the meeting, to accommodate residents work and family schedules and so that everybody who would like to ask a question has an opportunity to do so.
Any bets on how early the ACORN buses will arrive?
They should also use that opportunity to introduce the next person who will be challenging Markey. Even though unknown at that point, it must be a good person from that grass-roots movement. They should also have that new challenger sitting in Markeys empty chair.
The one video camera revolution (They won’t hold town halls?)

It would be great to see this posted on YouTube—might give some other townhallers some ideas.
Speaking of communist rabble-rousers, when is Mel Watt going to hold his town hall talking-to?
bttt
Maybe former Congresswoman Musgrave (R) would be willing to fill in for Markey
What a hoot!! I love it!
I have often posed the question, what would happen if we held an election and no one showed up to vote? Who wins?
This is even better. What if “the people” hold a townhall meeting for their Congresscritter and the Congresscritter doesn’t show?? Can’t wait to see how this turns out.
Um....Kelly’s a guy. :)
