My guitard (bass players’ nickname for guitarists) has an ‘81 “TV yellow” Les Paul that sounds incredible. He gripes about the weight too though. He also has a ‘95 Gold Top reissue, and I think it’s even heavier.

Goodbye to a true pioneer.

I am reminded of a Pablo Casals story. Pablo was interviewed at the age of 92 and asked: “You have been known as the world’s greatest cellist for decades, you are 92 years old, and yet you still practice 6 hours a day. May I ask why?”

Pablo’s answer: “Because I feel I am making progress.”

Pablo lived to be 96.
