Although she made good points, he very subtly picked her apart and mocked her. Sometimes walking into a den of wolves is not always a good idea.

Having just watched it myself, I think he did a fair job of it. It is after all a legitimate question to ask, and it’s too bad she didn’t feel confident enough to say Hell Yeah we should dismantle the entire War on Poverty and the New Deal. At least he had the integrity to admit that Soc Sec and Medicare are examples of socialism.

This is reminiscent of the Charles Gibson interview of Sarah Palin in which Gibson misquoted, indeed distorted, remarks made by Palin while praying in church to the effect that he made Palin appear to be asserting that God was on our side in war when she was in fact praying for wisdom to be on God's side. This is precisely the position of Abraham Lincoln when he was asked if he thought God was on the union side in the Civil War and he replied to the effect, "the question is are we on God's side." Gibson's intent was obviously to make Palin appear a religious fanatic who would distort policy out of her fanaticism if she were elected vice president.

Sarah Palin said she thought that her prayer was in line with Lincoln's reasoning and Gibson flatly contradicted her stating that his version were the "exact words." Either Gibson was lying or was grossly misinformed. In any event, he was grossly unprofessional.

In this videotape we see Lawrence O'Donnell playing the same game with another woman. He did this only after disarming her by telling her to relax and not be nervous because there was nothing threatening happening. Anyone who is aware of Mr O'Donnell's extremist leftist biography knows that he fully intended to destroy this woman and consciously set out to do so. The whole interview was an ambush.

Interestingly, when she persisted, like Palin, repeating that she she heard the president say he was in favor of single-payer system, O'Donnell, like Charlie Gibson, misstated the facts and insisted, falsely, that the contrary was the case.

At least with the Internet this kind of sleaze can be instantly exposed so, as Mark Twain said, "a lie is halfway around the world before the truth can get its boots on", is perhaps not so true anymore.

Larry O'Donnell did not destroy this good and honest woman he only exposed himself for a liar and the bully.
