Well, these folks are "experts", obviously highly educated, so they wouldn't dare make a strong judgment about it. They might feel it is "enlightened" and "empowering" or something. They might also take comfort in spreading their hedonistic lifestyle. It would validate their own stupid choices. You know, the way baby boomers excuse rap music because their own parents didn't like rock music. Or the drugs they took. And they turned out okay. Except for the herpes and the bastard children, of course.
