RIVERSIDE (CBS) ―
Kaiser Permanente is laying off 650 workers in Southern California. Another 1,200 jobs are being cut in Northern California.
The cutbacks will reportedly involve temporary, on-call or short-hour employees, but no doctors or nurses.
The company's vice president cited uncertainty over Medicare and health care reform.
Kaiser is offering a severance package to employees and trying to place them in other jobs.
We knew it, they were only Kaiser Temporarye.
Hmmmm, I count them as big time Obama supporters.
I work for a company with fifty thousand employees,
yes, I said fifty thousand,
last year they kicked Kaiser to the curb,
and opted for United Health Care.
I don’t understand on how any uncertainty in the insurance picture affects their level of business today.
The Kaiser CA folks are big, big backers of HC “reform”.
They figure their rigid model will come out ahead in any national shake up.
It doesn’t. It is a common BS PR tactic to blame things on some current issue that appears might be related, but certainly isn’t.
Example: “We are closing our local emergency room because state reimbursements for care of deadbeats and illegals wouldn’t feed a goat. We also screwed up in not being able to handle this obvious, longstanding problem faced by all ERs, but figure we’ll make more money this way.”
PR Spin: “We are closing our ER, but would have saved it if we had healthcare reform today”.
It’s called changing the subject to hide complicity.
Well mine has a bunch of employees also and we have BCBS of Illinois. I understand they are laying off as well. HR kicked UHC out last year.
I wouldn’t take my dog to a Kaiser hospital...
It is sickening how the officers of the company fawn over Obamacare. There must be something in it for them.
hey! i think you have potential in the spin business!
How is that Hopey Changey working out for you?
