You know, I was also stunned to read that line. That's how they write about women in the Italian stampa. In reporting the recount in 2000, they said, "The always heavily made-up Katherine Harris ......." When Sharapova became the second youngest ever female player to win Wimbledon, they said, "The body of a top model ........." They are just absurd. So, even if I'm speaking English, I refer to them as the stampa, not the Italian press. With this as the first line in the article, the LA Times has changed from a newspaper to a giornale.
