What they want are mandated meetings for the easily-manipulated elderly in order to “counsel” them to just sign the POA and DNR papers and shut up. And they’re saying they want the language in there so the elderly can have this as a paid for service (ACORN payola here, I’m sure).
Can you imagine if someone has signed the papers and then is admitted to the hospital unconscious for something minor?

This is one of the central assumptions of these leftist, statist, elitist fools. The assumption is that if THEY don’t provide and control it the rest of us are too stupid, ill educated, unenlightened or incompetent to have thought of it on our own or, if we have, to keep it running correctly.
I will turn 62 in October. I DON’T WANT TO BE HERDED INTO A GOVERNMENT PROGRAM THAT MANDATES WHAT I CAN OR CANNOT DO WTIH MY LIFE!!!!!!!!!!!!! I will make my own damn “end of life” choices. I don’t need some government @#%&^@# “counseling” me or advising me or directing me.

The issue is not preventing seniors from making end of life decisions. The issue is the government FORCING them to make such decisions in order to save costs.
