Police stationed at Portsmouth High School for President Barack Obama's visit this afternoon have had their hands full this morning.
According to Detective Lt. Corey MacDonald, one person has already been arrested for allegedly sneaking into the high school.
MacDonald, who is also assigned to work as the city's "intelligence officer," as a liaison to the Secret Service, told Foster's that police have also encountered a situation where a protestor was armed with some type of firearm. It is unclear if the person has been arrested.
A shift commander on duty at the Portsmouth Police Station has also confirmed one person is under arrest at the protest, but was unable to provide more details.
Also, WMUR is reporting that the Secret Service had a pickup truck towed from outside of Portsmouth High School this morning for security reasons.
I have been here 11 years and you. Now does that make you wrong and me right?
Arpil 1998 for me....AND, I've never had to change my screen name to hide!
Hey noob, are you aware that this looney, paranoid president prohibited the graduating midshipmen from wearing their traditional swords at the ceremony because he was speaking?
Do you know how many previous presidents hav spoken at these graduations? This has never been done before. If the president thinks he should fear us, then we damn well had better fear this loonatick president!
If you think your right to sneak into a building where the president is scheduled to be and to be armned supercedes the responsibilities of the USSS to protect him, then go ahead and do it.
You do have a few months seniority on me. Now what?
I guess we're at an impasse. Since you have been here 11.5 years, you must be correct.
President Obama has an entire Secret Service detail. The man on the street has no protection from SEIU goons other than his own devices. BZZT! Bad point, backfired on you.
Just because a lunatic like you
Ah, so because I think the average citizen on a public street has rights that are NOT abridged if the president is to pass nearby, I am a lunatic. Tells me all I need to know about your collectivist mindset.
who thinks your rights cannot be abridged in any circumstances
Oh, they can be abridged. For example, I'm sure they had metal detectors to gain access to where Obama was speaking. It is my choice to go through them and not have a weapon there. I would choose not to. However, if I am out on a public thoroughfare, it is my right to be there armed if I am following the law, and this person was.
and who wants to carry a weapon around a president doesn't mean you should or that you will be allowed to. The fact that you don't undertsnad that, just proves my point.
The point that you think having the president nearby on a public thoroughfare abrogates the rights of others tells the rest of FR what YOU are about better than any other statement I could make.
Are you the guy who jumps the barriers at airports, because we can't be protected by the government and DUH, becuase you have the right to?
Uh, no - it is my choice to fly. However, 9/11 would never have happened if citizens with CCW permits and additional training would have been allowed to carry on planes. But fearful folks like yourself would never allow such to happen.
I can see why you dislike guns so much, you have a penchant for shooting yourself in the foot.
No impass - The constitution affirms our God given right to own and bear arms, and leaves no room for such illogical exceptions.
This is good. A president should be expected to behave better because of this.
We are supposed to be a free nation, and a free nation does not abridge its citizen’s rights, especially for such trivial reasons. We don’t need, nor should we have a “Secret Service,” we have armed citizens. Only a presiden that has an evil agenda would feel the need for a Secret Service.
Yeah, that makes lots of sense. Parade around with a gun in open view as a means to sneak close enough to Obama to shoot him.
As I recall, the last few assasination attempts on the President involved illegal concealed carry of weapons to get close to him - Hinkley and the two attempts on Ford.
Look, I hate the air Obama breathes but we need to pick our battles and coming locked and loaded to a presidential event is not the best way to protest.
What makes you think the guy was protesting by wearing a gun? Given all the reports of union goons, he probably saw it as a way to repel them on sight. Bullies avoid those who can fight back.
I would expect the Secret Service to deal with any thugs who might cause problems so being armed isnt necessary. Really, it only causes problems at such a venue.
That sounds like the folks who said CCW would lead to an increase in crime. There are always those who say guns cause more problems. That's not good company to keep IMO.
If you can't answer or agree to a simple point. Take a hike.
Go ahead and exercise your absolute rights and don't let us the police, or the USSS get in the way.
You are the one building a strawman. The person in question was exercising open carry on the street while protesting, he did not enter the building nor did he attempt to enter the building.
If you can't answer or agree to a simple point. Take a hike.
If you can't even get the facts straight, you shouldn't bother posting on the subject.
Try getting your facts straight. If that isn't too much trouble for you.
So now a noob can appoint himself the official inquisator of FR?
Its really time for you to take your final hike!
Disarming the populace is a pre-requisite for the takeover by these Fascists. Bank on new gun restrictions/regulations soon, especially since the silent majority has been arming-up expecting that when the tax base is gone, the entitlements' crowds will be coming to suburbia to TAKE what they were being given previously. (See tag-line).
Nice earpiece there. Wonder who is on the other end?
Secondly, I have been clear about what my issue is. If you want to waffle some more, just agree with my point and slither on by.
If there are two of you, does that make you twice as wrong?
