Doesn't always work that way. Union agitators are there to agitate, not walk around calmly. In this case, they probably didn't expect it. You can bet they will adjust their strategy in the future.
Like many people, I used to be a union member and got involved in all the strike organizing and tactics in my young days. Then as I moved up and saw how corrupt unions were, I joined the other side and became a labor management specialist- a union buster, before I started my own business.
Those young people who believe all that union bullcrap are their perfect patsies. They do the dirty work, get arrested, and the union bails them out and pays their lawyer. If they go to jail, get fired, big deal, they are considered "casualties of war".
BTW, I am the daugther of a man who was in his Pratt And Whitney working days, which was nearly 30 years, after he served in the Coast Guard during WW2 a member of a union. He has been decesed for ten years now. He has to be spinning in his grave with the involvement of the ACORN/SEIU thugs in these town hall gatherings.
