Some states have open carry, some have concealed carry. Here in TX it’s concealed carry. I don’t know the reasons for the dichotomy. I suppose concealed carry tends to avoid whipping up people’s passions, but open carry lets everybody know where they stand.
In Texas you must carry concealed if you have the necessary government issued permit...BUT you can carry a long rifle openly !! Go figure.
