He pretty clearly lays out that his bill would only allow medicare to cover an end of life counselling session, making decisions for yourself on what treatment you want your doctor to persue in case you are incapicated. Its called durable power of attorney, and its designed to protect you and your family from having the government make the decisions on what care you recieve when you can’t make the decision for yourself. It has nothing at all to do with euthenasia. If you want your doctor to persue all options to keep you alive including keeping you on life support indefinetly you can make that choice, if you don’t want to live like a vegetable hooked up to machines and tubes then you can make that decision. In any case 50 states have these laws on the books already, he just wants medicare to pay for a session for elderly folks.

We already have that. Been down that road twice this past year...decisions were made but not by a panel of end of life counselors. Just my opinion.
