I was there, but didn’t get into the auditorium. I was part of the overflow crowd that got into the gym.
Yes, the crowd was huge, about 2,000. This district is one of the most liberal in GA, but I’d guess at least half of the crowd was conservative.
Johnson did plan for a large crowd. The auditorium seats 500 and 1,000 seats were set up in the gym. Still about 500 people couldn’t get in. (My rep, John Lewis is only having telephone talks, so this was my only chance to go to a town hall meeting.)
But I stayed only for about a half hour. Johnson is very low-key. His monotone voice was making me sleepy. Then he had people speak about their health problems. I could tell the opposition wouldn’t have a chance to speak.
Thank you for that report.
Your report confirms what I have been saying which is that these Town Halls were all planned as mere propaganda outlets, NOT for listening to constituents.
Therefore, those who felt called to raise their voices once they got INTO the venues have every right and expectation to do just that in order to be HEARD.
And, thank God, they HAVE been heard - around the world!
