Former Virginia Congressman Virgil Goode has quietly ended his political career, according to a story in the Franklin (Virginia) News-Post
Is this ‘goode’ or bad for VA?
He was leading efforts against illegal immigration so the Roanoke Times declared war on him.
My gut feeling is that it is for the best IF we can get a strong challenger to Periello. I dont say this with animosity to Goode, who I liked a lot, but because the history of people trying to win back a lost seat doesnt look very promising to me.
If true, that’s disappointing. He lost by such a incredible narrow margin in ‘08. Voters in the Peoples Republic of Charlottesville pushed Tom Perriello over the top.
He had tentaively announced he was gonna run in 2010. I think he’d have stood a good chance if he had run next year.
Political PING?
I hadn’t heard of him so I didn’t know if he was a ‘goode’ senator or not. Wish we had some good ones in Central NY. Schumer and Gillibrand are my senators. Yechhh.
Well, that’s a big surprise. Do newspapers really do that? LOL. Where has journalism disappeared to?
Read this and tell if it was written by a unbiased journalist or the Democratic National Committee

What happened?
From what I’ve read,Periello’s numbers are in the toilet. If we can find a good candidate,he’s a pigeon to be plucked.
I think every Democrat but Boucher is in trouble in this area.
I’ll pick DNC. Some of the readers’ comments were pretty good though. Talk about bankrupting the nation...he’s done that without healthcare already.
Don’t know and Virgil’s not saying - - see http://www2.godanriver.com/gdr/news/local/danville_news/article/goode_wont_seek_reelection_mum_on_why/12770/
Boucher is taking a lot of flack for his support of Waxman-Markey and is likely to be grilled mercilessly on health care at town halls later this month. I know some folks over in Buchanan County who ordinarily speak well of Boucher but now can’t speak his name without adding insults and invectives. Too early to tell how much this has hurt him, but it has hurt. It would not surprise me if Boucher decides not to run in 2010.

Either the ostammer administration has dirt on him so they’re forcing him out, or he’s seriously ill, or he’s got a scandal in the pipeline.
