A good Christian would certainly view it as immoral to wish he could literally kill a nuisance politician. Though it would not be immoral at all to wish or pray that God would act independently to bring discipline upon such a person.
Perhaps you ought to have said “voicing such sentiments.” That could be in earnest or in jest.
