You are making FAR to much of ACORNS ability to actually swing an election. What they do is despicable, sure, but when the bright lights are shining on them their effectiveness is greatly curtailed.

Of course I have no idea how many if any the Rep will pick up in 2010 and all anyone can go on is the trend. This year the Rep have picked up 18 State Legislature seats across the nation and they are leading handily so far in the Gov races in both NJ and VA. The pressure is now on the Left and they are clearly on defense. Yours and others here who seem to be throwing their hands up saying “nothing matters because the Democrats will simply manufacture enough votes and win anyway” sounds both defeatist as well as tinfoil hat conspiracy like. The main stream medias ability to sway public opinion has been disastrously reduced and this only hurts the Left. As victory begets victory, so does defeat beget defeat. I believe Obama will NOT get either the Cap and Trade or health care bills he so desperately wants (and needs). he will be then seen as what he really is, ineffective and nothing more then all mouth and no “ass”.

The key is to keep up the pressure and force the Left to get ever more hysterical and outrageous in their own defense.

That is a very optimistic view and I hope you are right.

My worry is the $650 billion in stimulus funds that might very well be held back for use right before the election.

Vote buying par excellance.

Nathan, you are exactly right. There is only so much phony voting ACORN can carry out. And in conservative mostly-white House districts in the South, the ones that helped put Pelosi in as Speaker in 2006, ACORN would have little or no influence to rig elections in these type of suburban districts.

While I don’t think there’s a lot of pick up opportunities in the Senate other than perhaps Dodd and Specter (if Specter is the Dems’s nominee in PA) and maybe the open seat in Illinois, I think we could easily see a 30-35 seat turnover in the House, assuming voters stay angry, among these so called Blue Dog Democrats who have turned into major phonies—and their conservative constituents know it too.
