I am sorry but Ms. Shriver doesn't deserve this disdain. At the time that Rose Marie was lobotomized it was an attempt to help her. It was a new form of treatment for the mentally retarded and they believed they were acting in her best interests. As much as I despise Joe Kennedy there is no reason to assume that he had anything but good intentions towards Rose Marie. Her institutionalization was very upsetting to him and the rest of the family.
Eunice Shriver is a very good person, though I dislike most of her relatives, she should not be lumped in with the rest of them. And Special Olympics is an exceptional good for society.
