It’s government involvement that killed the country doctors of the first half of the 20th century. The country doctor has a place today, if he could return it would be superior to what we are facing. The great medical breakthroughs and high tech research could be performed at university hospitals and research labs (just like now!).
The country doctor knew his patients and how the lived. The patients didn’t spend upward to two hours waiting in his lobby for ten minutes of “face time”.
