Can I take a moment to say that I appreciate this discussion?
My post 109 has caused quite a kerfuffle on this thread, but you have actually tried to find out what I mean, and I appreciate that.
I only meant to point out that hyperbole and absolutes will only make opposition to the Codex look looney and absurd.
If someone tried to say the Codex would result in further—perhaps nearly-exclusive—use of GMOs and hybrids that would further dilute nutrition in the food supply, I would agree completely.
Saying the Codex would set out to remove all nutrients from all foods is preposterous.
Thank you very much, I appreciate it too.
It’s true that the article about the Codex could have been worded better, but the Codex itself does present a disturbing danger to public health.
The Europeans are fighting it, but it looks like it may sail through here without anyone even noticing it.
The Codex will remove nutrition labels from packaged food, ramp up crop quantity over nutrition in hybrid seed stock, and use government regulations, taxes, and outright banning (depending on the world zone you live in) to reduce or eliminate the availability of supplements and heirloom seed.
People will start suffering from malnutrition and, because of missing labeling on food, not know what is wrong with them. They will then go to their government healthcare provider and be told.. what? With supplements unavailable they will either be given the pain pill, or worse, misdiagnosed and given a cure more deadly than the disease.
Perhaps they will be told they have swine flu or some such, and then given a shot that will in turn actually end up giving them swine flu. When they return to their Government Health Official saying the problem has gotten worse, what will he say? He will probably tell them that the swine flu has ‘mutated’. There will be an uproar, a panic, perhaps even martial law due to WHO and CDC regulations.
The state media will say nothing of the real cause, they will just promote the ‘swine flu’ panic. Only the internet will inform people of what’s going on, perhaps by using articles like the above and threads on FR.
I may just have to bow to the galactic expert on preposterous on this one.
I mean, how can anyone argue with hyperbole unless they are galactic level experts in preposterous.
