Tonight Bright posted this on his "District Work Schedule" page:
8/6/09
MONTGOMERY, AL -
Congressman Bright will be continuing his district work schedule and will be in the River Region on Friday, August 7th. Congressman Bright will be hosting a meet and greet event, as well as two "Congress on Your Corner" to listen to concerns and meet with constituents.
That's it. These events are tomorrow. No times. No locations.
I detect a new strategy: Have meetings with constituents...without the constituents!
Constituents need to call and request a town hall meeting where they are invited to attend. If he refuses, his constituents should hold their own Town Hall Meeting with an empty chair where he is missing....and roll the cameras!
Not so Bright.....
My Blue Dog, Heath Shuler, has opted for “teleconferences.”
I called his office, and they told me that they’re doing the teleconference because the district is too big to have a town hall, and it creates hardships for people who want to come, because they live so far away (yes, this was really their excuse).
Giffords (AZ 8) had ONE public meeting - a 3 hour drive from the nearest city, and held in the produce section of a Safeways.
No other public meetings are scheduled.
Just so someone doesn’t call and embarass themselves. Click on the title and you get the times.

Way too many nutless wonders within the Democratic Party.
They are bringing union thugs and ACORN’s rent a mob to fill the seats.

Please pull this thread. It has wrong information.
Thx
She was afraid to face the heat that her constituents were going to put her to.
From this article it says:
Asked if she will have a town hall meeting in the county during this months congressional recess to specifically address rural health care, Giffords said no.If a town hall meeting were held, it would probably turn into an event where people would not want to listen, she said.
Yelling and screaming is counterproductive, Giffords said.
Some members of Congress who have held town hall meetings on the health care issue since the recess began have seen their events taken over by foes of Democratic-backed health care reform measures.
It is plainly obvious that she doesn't care what her constituents think, and that she expects them to shut up "listen" to her speak instead of her listening to the people she's supposed to be representing. Typical socialist Democrat.
This, as folks are car and bus pooling from across the nation to descend on DC in September to have their voices heard...
Heath....you are out of touch and heading for defeat!!
But, but, but....I thought they were all bussed there!
The people are starting to wake up and they’re now seeing that their duly elected representatives are NOT representing them!!! And these used a$$-wipes don’t even have the guts to face their constituents....lol.
It would be funny if it wasn’t so serious. They gotta be voted, or thrown, out and replaced with true leadership.
He works for you, he should have more than one town hall.
2 “teleconferences” are scheduled.
I told “Jack” in Shuler’s Asheville office that the state of Wyoming was probably 10 times bigger than NC-11, and only had one Congressman, and that he managed to have town halls, in spite of the distances.
I live in a really spread-out district in Oklahoma, and our congressman, Frank Lucas, comes to every little town. Ours, in a town of fewer than 1000 people, was held in city hall. Rep. Lucas votes correctly on everything, so no one was mad at him, but a lot of people came to vent about the Congress and president in general.
