I would tend to agree with the photographer. Obama may be a politician and therefore fair game for satire and parody, but that doesn’t give someone the right to profit from the image she created. Unlike the joker poster, which uses a standard Obama image which is exactly like six billion other Obama images, the cannabis poster uses a picture which is totally unique—one which we would not have if Lisa Jack had not been there to take the picture. She did not forfeit her copyright when Obama became President.

The photo was supressed until after the election.

She wanted to profit from the image but control how the public viewed the image (context and timeframe).

Thought control isn’t a positive trait.

If she wanted to keep it from being mocked, she should’ve kept it in her scrap book.
