San Diego has 5 congressmen 3 are the best Conservative Republicans.

Rep. & Marine Capt. Duncan Hunter Brian Bilbray Darrell Issa.

Interesting you should mention San Diego. We just returned from a week's vacation in San Diego, my first time there. We liked it a lot, and we did talk about possibly moving there in a few years. Housing there is cheaper (relatively) compared to where we live in the Bay Area, so making such a move would also be a good one financially.

Yes San Diego is one of the last sane places in California, at least SoCal. But keep something in mind. Demographics is working against San Diego as well. Orange County was once just as conservative as San Diego. What happened? Massive waves of immigration (both legal and illegal) overwhelmed the County. Most of these newcomers were tailor made Democrats. Yes there were a few hard core Vietnamese refugees who VERY anit-communist and they voted Republican/Conservative but they were outnumbered by subsequent waves of other immigrants and even their own children. Any area with high Immigration WILL be liberal. Even Miami is starting to change. Take Castro away and the whole of South Florida will be liberal in very short order. No this is a fact of life.

While housing is down a bit, this would be the time.

Housing in San Diego before the crunch was one of the highest in the U.S.

condos in my neighborhood now start around $500,000 a unit to $4 million a unit.
1 mile further to $12 million a unit.

In general in SD homes $300,000 to over 25 million.

SD has the largest number of defense contractors.
They are getting huge numbers in contracts weekly.

Lot of HiTech here, Major area for BioMed and research.
Telecommunications. Largest concentration of military
in the world.

Tourism and Conventions here bring in over $12 Billion a year.
