Deeds Pulls in the President
President Barack Obama will travel across the river on Aug. 6 for a fundraiser for Democratic gubernatorial contender Creigh Deeds at the McLean Hilton, the Deeds campaign confirmed this evening.
Obama will also appear at some kind of public function that day, Deeds spokeman Jared Leopold said. Invitations for the fundraiser went out a couple of days ago.
HokieMom, I pinged you, too, because you asked about more specific information.
I hope you all still have time on such short notice to arrange for buses, bag lunches, smokes, and cash and gifts for your protest participants. (/sarc)
In all seriousness, I hope there is some interest in keeping the momentum going, in pushing Obama's poll numbers further downward, and taking many, many other Democrat pols and candidates down with him. And I hope you can manage a great Freep with great turnout.
It looks like BufordP already has a good sign ready to go.
Good Luck and Godspeed, Virginians!
Meanwhile, President Barack Obama will cross the Potomac River on Aug. 6 to campaign for Deeds. He will attend a public rally and private fundraiser at the McLean Hilton Hotel in Tysons Corner.

Obama to Campaign for Deeds
July 23, 2009
President Barack Obama will come to the Commonwealth Aug. 6 to campaign for Democratic gubernatorial nominee Creigh Deeds.
Mr. Obama will headline a fundraiser in McLean, which should help swell Deeds war chest. The president will also attend a public rally. Details for that event are still being adjusted.
UPDATE, Friday 4:42 p.m.
The event details are out, per the Deeds team:
Rally with Creigh Deeds, President Obama and Gov. Kaine
Aug. 6, 5:00 p.m.
Hilton McLean Tysons Corner, 7920 Jones Branch Drive, McLean
So, it appears the public rally, for the peasants is first, at 5pm; and then the caviar and cocktails event for the deep pockets donors will be after.
