Warning: 'Cap and trade' not DOA

A coalition of conservative groups dedicated to dispelling the myths of global warming is keeping the heat on lawmakers when it comes to "cap and trade."

The Cooler Heads Coalition recently held a closed door meeting in Washington, DC. The coalition comprises individuals from conservative organizations who are leading the charge against the Waxman-Markey energy bill, also known as "cap and trade" and referred to in the meeting as "energy rationing and tax."

Although the healthcare debate currently is the main newsmaker in DC, the Cooler Heads Coalition says the Waxman-Markey energy bill is still alive and well. They also warned that despite some hearsay, the bill is not dead on arrival in the Senate. Some speculated that the energy bill could be picked up for debate in the Senate as early as mid-September.

As lawmakers gear up for the August recess and plan town hall meetings, members of the coalition will be urging concerned voters to attend those meetings and voice their concern over the cap-and-trade bill.

An interesting statistic brought up in the meeting shows how the cap-and-trade bill even affects healthcare. According to calculations, if cap and trade passes, increases in hospital energy costs could increase consumer healthcare costs by 11 percent.

Keep the pressure on the Senate.

"My mail is running about 99 to 1 against (cap and trade)," said Sen. Ben Nelson, a Nebraska Democrat, during the hearing. "I'll use the parade analogy, as well. What are people yelling at (me) during parades? It's, "No to cap and trade!"

Ben Lieberman, an energy policy scholar at the Heritage Fondation, testified yesterday [July 30] before the House and Senate Western Caucus, on the economic impact of the Waxman-Markey American Clean Energy and Security Act, a cap-and-trade energy tax that passed through the House of Representatives on June 26th.

Here’s a sobering excerpt:

“Overall, Waxman-Markey reduces gross domestic product by an average of $393 billion dollars annually between 2012 and 2035, and cumulatively by $9.4 trillion dollars. In other words, the nation will be $9.4 trillion dollars poorer with Waxman-Markey than without it.”

Thanks for that information. I can use it in arguments elsewhere.

Yes, Cap and Trade no doubt is going to be the other fight for our very lives.

If they pass one or both of these Draconian measures, look for our recession to become (if not already) full blown depression very fast.

It’s really getting ugly out there.

Check out —

www.surfacestations.org

Great website, shows how the weather stations are supposed to be step up, & how many are in fact out of compliance with accurate temperature readings regulations. They are next to burn barrels, barbeque grills, etc. Look at the “odd sites” tab, for examples.

Laura Ingraham was hammering on cap and trade this morning, all the phony baloney “environmentalism.” One way or another, this regime plans to irretrievably bankrupt this nation.

Yes they do plan to bankrupt the nation....turn the US into a third world totalitarian Zimbabwe or Venezuela type of nation.

You are exactly 100% correct.
