I quite understand what Bush did. He was sending tax dollars (borrowed ones at that) overseas. He put Africans’ interests ahead of American’s interests when he did so. What he did with his own money was praiseworthy. What he did with public money was not. What part of the US is damn near insolvent don’t you get? Or are we going to pay for Africans, and blow off our commitment to older American’s social security? That is the precise choice we have to make and the amount is in the TRILLIONS of dollars.
Pepfar was begun in 2003, and it was passed in both the Republican House and Senate - that means that he had our approval of what he did via our representatives.
And the idea that he put African's interests ahead of Americans' is invalid. It's not exactly like he was ignoring America at the time. Your argument is no more valid than the leftists who say that going into Iraq in 2003 took money from Americans.......and they say that all the time.
But that's OK. I know you want to think Bush is bad, and you fancy yourself some sort of expert because you spent a wee bit of time in Africa, so go for it.
