Well, in bo's case it's a misnomer, but Kenya was just barely independent from Britain, and remains a 78% majority Christian country.
Kenya was a colony of the British empire for at least fifty years before they declared independence. Since there were so many British still living there during the years of Kenya becoming independent, and since most British then were Christians, it only makes sense that there would be recognition of that in relevant documents.
