Three Americans who were arrested after crossing into Iran have been accused of being spies, according to a local report.
Tehran-based television news channel al-Alam quoted an Iraqi police officer as saying the trio were working with the CIA.
The Swiss Embassy in Tehran was working to learn more about the Americans' fate through its contacts with the Iranian Foreign Ministry, spokeswoman Nadine Olivieri said. Switzerland represents U.S. interests in Iran. Story continues below ↓advertisement | your ad here
It also emerged that an American linguistics student traveling in northern Iraq didn't go on an ill-fated hiking trip because he had a cold a twist of fate that prevented him from mistakenly wandering into Iran where his three friends were reportedly detained. And, given the efficiency of Iran's Army to surround and detain these kids so quickly, I wonder if there's any chance we can entice them to guard our Southern border.
Spies? Hardly.
Just 3 more idiots like the 2 now sitting in a NK pokey.

LOL!!
Considering the stupidity of the average American sometimes, and the blatant incompetence of the CIA, this could really go either way.
Can they take all of the left wing wacko’s and call them CIA agents?
They were filming the sequel to “Spies Like Us”.
I can imagine many many possible CIA missions into Iran of importance to Barry... perhaps couriers of US Bearer bonds, satellite images of Dimona, etc...
Given the direction of the country, 0bama might yet hire them to keep us from leaving.

I am going to have to go with the stupidity of the average American on this one. While I agree that the CIA is pretty much incompetent as far as management is concerned, I have a bit more faith in the competence of agents in the field. I doubt a real agent would be so stupid as to be caught so easily.
Al-Alam quoted Colonel Anwar Haj Omar of the Halabja police force in northern Iraq as saying the three Americans were agents employed by the CIA.
Who is this guy working for?
Hopefully these cornholes get nightly screenings of Midnight Express and are able to squirrel away some lard or oleo to make things go easier for them.
Looks like I should cancel my next Iraq - Iran border hike that’s coming up soon.
CIA? I don’t think so haji. More like “journalists” and left-wing freaks.
Yeah, but you had to think about it, didn’t you?
hahahaha (okay, not funny, this kind of joke about the CIA isn’t really funny, rather, it’s depressing)
That's too bad. I hear the rocks and the sand are particularly beautiful this time of year.
It is possible.
