NASCAR owner Gibbs shares life playbook with 'Game Plan'

HUNTERSVILLE, N.C. — Joe Gibbs has guided teams to three Super Bowl championships and three Sprint Cup titles, so his legacy as a sporting icon would seem more than secure. But the man still known affectionately as "Coach" around the hallways of Joe Gibbs Racing says it is more important to be remembered for words and wisdom than for wins.

"I'm going to be in an old-age home saying, 'You know, I coached the (Washington) Redskins and owned a NASCAR team,' and the other guys will say, 'Get this nut out of here,' " Gibbs, 68, says, laughing. "How much will that success mean to me then? This book is what I hope I leave instead."

Gibbs was on both Hannity (TV) and Levin last week. I had the opportunity to pick up his new book, Game Plan for Life, and it is fantastic. I'd say this would be true even if you aren't a Gibbs, football, or NASCAR fan. Other authors/experts working on this project include Jerry Jenkins, Ravi Zacharias, Josh McDowell, Tony Evans, Chuck Colson, Ron Blue, Randy Alcorn, Ken Boa, and Os Guiness.

This sounds like an awesome book. I think I need to get it.

A special note about Chuck Colson. He got the reputation as "The White House Hatchet Man". Lee Atwater was known for his below the belt in-fighting in his campaigns. Yet, both men came to Christ and eventually repented of any nasty tricks they pulled.

Ever notice how no Democrats ever come forward later in life to repent for any life-destroying dirty tricks they pull?
