Suspect in Gay Sailor's Murder Found Dead (Notice the double standard in reporting this)

SAN DIEGO - A sailor accused of murdering a fellow seaman on duty at Camp Pendleton committed suicide in the base brig.

Jonathan Campos, 32, of Lancaster, was found unresponsive in his cell at about 12:20 p.m., taken to the base hospital and declared dead about 1:15 p.m.,the Los Angeles Times reported.

Campos, a petty officer 2nd class, apparently asphyxiated himself with toilet paper. He had been on suicide watch in the brig and was last checked at 11:45 a.m., according to a Navy written statement.

Campos was charged with murdering 29-year-old August Provost on June 30 at about 2 a.m. while Provost was in the sentry station outside the landing craft facility at Camp Pendleton.

Campos was charged with murder, drug possession, burglary and several other crimes. He allegedly shot Provost several times as he was trying to get onto the base to destroy property and attack other sailors.

Provost was gay but, at the time Campos was charged, Navy officials said there was no evidence the killing was a hate crime.

Notice how quickly the soldier was identified as a gay soldier. Frank Lombard was not in one official story identified as a gay man. Also how quickly there was the attempt to make what was a break and entering situation into a hate crime. This is a horrible situation but is clearly a double standard. The only thing that surprises me is that the national media did not trump this story up.

I absolutely do not believe any of the stories I read in the MSM if it concerns 1)a black person, or 2) a homosexual. They both are protected species, IMHO, and will be until we fight back and retrieve the freedom in America.

Since the killing doesn’t seem to be connected to the victim being gay, it is difficult to understand the rationale beyond sensationalism for mentioning it. Furthermore I assume since the man was active duty he was not open about his sexual preference—blaring it out repeatedly for no purpose seems disrespectful to someone who was a soldier.

It doesn’t matter how many gay male teachers get caught molesting they are only gay when they can be made to look innocent and clean. Minorities are not even given the level of protection that homosexuals are. I have noticed that the national media have not tried to pull a Michael Sheppard in a while. Especially since there have been several high profile gay rape murders they have totally ignored. They also refuse to report on the law breaking in San Fransicko but how many stories do you get about that stupid Westboro baptist church (they aren’t really baptists) but that doesn’t matter to the media. I personally wouldn’t be surprised if the bunch of token nuts are something more than just the crazed inbred nuts they appear to be.

After the ordeal, we went back to the jail. Obie said he was going to put us in the cell. Said, "Kid, I'm going to put you in the cell, I want your wallet and your belt." And I said, "Obie, I can understand you wanting my wallet soo I don't have any money to spend in the cell, but what do you want my belt for?" And he said, "Kid, we don't want any hangings." I said, "Obie, did you think I was going to hang myself for littering?" Obie said he was making sure, and friends Obie was, cause he took out the toilet seat so I couldn't hit myself over the head and drown, and he took out the toilet paper so I couldn't bend the bars roll out the - roll the toilet paper out the window, slide down the roll and have an escape. Obie was making sure, and it was about four or five hours later that Alice (remember Alice? It's a song about Alice), Alice came by and with a few nasty words to Obie on the side, bailed us out of jail, and we went back to the church, had a another thanksgiving dinner that couldn't be beat,

The murderer was a petty officer 2nd class which I assume means he’s been in for awhile. Why go off on killing gays now? I’m fairly positive he’s run into more than his share during his service so far.

I read this headline and assumed it was a gay lover’s quarrel.
