HAVANA Raul Castro announced Saturday that Cuba will cut spending on education and health care, potentially weakening the building blocks of its communist system in a bid to revive a floundering economy.
The former defense minister who took over the presidency last year called state spending "simply unsustainable" and said the cash-strapped government would reorganize rural schools and scrutinize its free health care system in search of ways to save money.
But he vowed that the island will not see fundamental change even after he and his older brother and predecessor Fidel Castro are gone.
"I wasn't elected president to return capitalism to Cuba," Castro said, "or to surrender the revolution" the armed uprising that toppled dictator Fulgencio Batista a half-century ago.

Yup.
Ask all those in their graves at the hands of the dictatorship that still grips Cuba to this day... or the ones lost at sea seeking freedom from their tyranny and the ones dead in the prisons.

Why did they seek to overthrow or flee the system that we now aspire to, the one O and dems do?
Cuba is hardly Communism’s poster boy? China , may pretend to be, but even they fall far short. There is no joy in Communism. The despots and their henchmen make sure of that.

I’d be willing to entertain a national holiday when they both are gone... have it on Marx’s birthday.

HAHAHAHAHA! Raul seems to have a better grasp of economics than Obama. Commie or not, he at least seems to understand that you can’t go on spending money you don’t have.

Even before the triumph of the Revolution, Castro and his gang were prone to
murder those who disagreed with them. In the photo below, taken while
still in the Sierra Maestra mountains, Fidel Castro's brother, Raul, is
seen getting ready to shoot a young rebel soldier who disobeyed orders.
