I don't care if he was born in Pago Pago. The fact that he can't be bothered with the question is one of profound concern.

I could point out that the only reason it has grown is because Obama has refused and resisted the release of his birth certificate.

But the so-called "birther" movement has to know alter its focus from just the birth certificate but also expose the President's lack of disclosure of his past records that would normally have been released during a campaign, and which most candidates had released upon request, but which Obama has actively worked to keep sealed.

His school records, his travel records, his records from when he was a State Senator. These are an important part of his "record" on which Americans would normally have used to judge his merit and character. He was elected solely on the mythos created by his book(s) and Americans deserve to know the achievements or lack thereof of the man they elected to office.

I think he was probably born in Hawaii, since the newspaper noted his birth, but if he does release the long form it will have sections redacted to conceal whatever embarrassing or disqualifying information is there.

Officials in Hawaii have confirmed that the original, long-form paper birth certificate filled out at the time of President Obama's birth exists.

And yet the state of Hawaii also calims that it destroyed all its paper records.

Furthermore, they claim that they can't release the birth certificate, yet members of the media (such as The Leprechaun) and others caim to have seen it.

Now, which is it?

I tend to think that Obama prefers to keep alive the birther movement as an attempt to tar conservatives.

Let's establish several precednets here: 1) Constitutional requirements must be respected, and the government and its officials are required to prove they are in compliance; 2) The President must be a natural born citizen—and must be prepared to prove it, if challenged.

Personally, I think Obama will be able to prove that he is a natural born citizen. What really matters is that he, and any and all future Presidents, should have to do so.
