As everyone elses taxes rise, one favored outfit may not have to pay federal taxes for years: General Motors. In another sweet deal from its benefactors on Pennsylvania Avenue, the government-owned car company is set to profit from billions of dollars in tax breaks not available to other businesses in the same predicament.

Taxing GM is like a State collecting property taxes from a State Park.
Why don’t Ford, Toyota, Honda, etc sue GM and/or the federal government for unfair competitive practices? Maybe they would lose, but at least it would highlight this crock in the public.
It matters a helluva a lot. Price is a major part of selling a product in a competitive market. Even if the quality is perceived as being somewhat less, price will influence buyers.

Well...I did forget the SARC TAG on NOT CONGRESS’s FAULT...but then again....it wakes up people on this forum and it does get people Pissed off just thinking about Congress voting for stuff they do not READ.

I thought the communist Democrats were against tax breaks as a form of “corporate welfare”? At least that’s what they scream about the oil companies.

If the government wants to build vehicles for 15K and sell them for 10K and making the taxpayers take the hit while putting non-government owned car plants out of business.
But it is no longer corporate welfare it is government welfare and that’s fine with them. It is your money, not their’s.
