Good morning!
I’ve been up since 2:30, and it is nice to hear from FRiends. The only sounds have been the rain and my snoring beagles!
No more Cash for Clunkers, eh? There goes my plan to turn in the ‘82 RV....(sigh)

Good morning!

I was watching Glenn Beck yesterday and he was saying that cars older than 25 years were not eligible. So don’t feel too badly, your’s wouldn’t have qualified anyway. Imagine - they wanted to crush decent cars to get them off the road and force people to buy ‘environmentally correct’ cars (my term? - or did I hear it somewhere?) lol!

I won’t get rid of our “84 Ford Mustang convertible. It is the only thing that makes me feel 19 again.

I don't understand the cash for clunkers spin...the program is being assessed because it is out of money early. Some people are claiming the program didn't work. Others say it was a huge success for the stimulus(?!). A news anchor just said auto dealers were excited about it, there was a lot of showroom traffic and huge increases in sales. Then they show a clip with a dealer saying that his showroom is full of cars and they have to do something....make some hard business decisions..and look at continuing or dropping the program.

Conflicting reports in the same story....very confusing to me. OF course I didn't like the program from the word go.

Q&R talking about the 'Beer summit." Any of yunz have any impressions on it? FWIW I thought Officer Crowely was polite and professional. The little I saw on the news it seemed to me there was a lot of body language that implied a lot of tension.

And there was NO apology.

I just caught in the sidebar that the food bill has passed the house. House passes far-reaching food safety bill

Wonderful...more government control.

They can have my zucchini when they pry it from my cold, dead hands!

I guess Biden was there to provide comic relief. Otherwise, I wish Officer Crowley would have said “No thanks. I know, I know, he can tell his grandkids he had beer at the White House, but still...

That food safety bill TICKS ME OFF! When Mr. Karatemom was unemployed for 8 months, he worked part time at a friends fruit stand. This man and his wife work so hard to keep the family business going, and they employ a number of people, and for this they may get hosed. When will this madness end?

I would like to have seen Officer Crowley ask to see Hussein's birth certificate.

And yuppers that food bill has me very worried. Farmer's markets could be in trouble...no more stopping at an Amish farm and picking up a few things...this will not turn out well.

Or maybe it might wake some of the sheeple...or not...sigh.

That is simply hilarious! Originally, it was supposed to run through November if the cash held out.

Wanted to let everyone know about this—hat tip to HonestConservative.

http://www.rightonline.com/

RightOnline is a national conservative internet activism convention that’s being held in Pittsburgh at the Station Square Sheraton August 14-15. It’s billed as an equivalent to the Yearly Kos

It will feature Pat Toomey, Michelle Malkin, Ed Morissey, Joe The Plumber, and a number of other nationally known speakers.

I’m thinking of going.

OK...Q&R explaining that the dealers are stuck with the clunkers and the checks from the government aren't coming...sow there might not even be enough money to cover the clunkers. I think the whole idea was stupid.
