Palin Won't Be Attending California Event
Conservatives for Palin (C4P) ^ | Tim Lindell

Posted on 07/30/2009 6:43:01 PM PDT by pillut48

From SarahPAC, via Governor Palin's Facebook:

As repeatedly stated to several in the media over the last week, former Governor Sarah Palin is not committed to attend the Simi Valley Republican Women’s event at the Reagan Library and in fact is not attending the event. Neither the Governor’s state staff nor SarahPAC has ever committed to attending this event or speaking at this event, and even requested that the Governor's name be removed from the invitation several weeks ago. The Governor has other work and commitments to take care of at that time. She looks forward to visiting her friends in California soon.

All event requests must be confirmed with Meghan Stapleton of SarahPAC. Additionally, all invitations bearing the Governor’s name must be approved by her attorney before proceeding.

Thank you.
Meghan Stapleton

It's easy to see why they (Sarah Palin's people) felt it necessary to make this statement...as mentioned above, the Governor and Meg Stapleton have repeatedly told the press there were no plans to attend the event. Nonetheless, the media continued to spread this rumor as fact - probably so they could later paint her with a negative brush if she turned out not to attend.

These organizations need to leave Palin the F alone and stop trying to say she's "attending" these events when clearly it's not confirmed. Now the MSM is going to run with this crap and say Palin "quit" on giving a speech. In the future, these events need to get written confirmation from Palin herself. I know that Palin is popular but at the same time she's a very unconventional politician who is going to play by her rules.

Palin to appear at Calif. gala after resignation
By MICHAEL R. BLOOD AP Political Writer

Updated: 07/12/2009 04:12:03 PM PDT

LOS ANGELES—Former vice presidential nominee Sarah Palin is slated to appear at a Republican gala in suburban Los Angeles next month as she moves to broaden her national influence after stepping down as Alaska governor.
Republican Women Federated of Simi Valley said in a statement Sunday that Palin is scheduled to attend the group’s 50th anniversary gala at the Ronald Reagan Presidential Library on Aug. 8. ............

Saraceno said she respected Palin’s right to change her plans at any time. She said in an e-mail that correspondence with the governor’s office has been “positive but cautious,” but she added, “we know she will come.”

EXACTLY, I am sick and tired of people using Sarah’s name for publicity. Check out this web site to see further info of my point being proven:

http://www.srlc2010.com/

Southern Republican Leadership Conference in New Orleans, whose idea was it to plaster Sarah’s face all over the web site basically saying she is going to an event that is a year away. Sarah can’t be in control of what people put on web sites
I pretty much knew for weeks that Sarah wasn’t going to this event, she never mentioned it on her twitter page, never mentioned it on her facebook page, it was no where to be found. The way I see it is this, if Sarah Palin, with her own lips does not confirm she is going to an event, I presume she is not going and I move on. I am glad that Meg gave this statement with over a week to go, that way it won’t even be a big deal, but it should be illegal for these people to profit from Sarah’s name

This story has been out there a while SP could’ve nipped it in the bud with this press release long ago. I’m one of SP’s biggest fans (see my previous posts) but she has got to get her act together.

Sarah did not acknowledge she was going.
It doesn’t take a PhD to understand this.
The Simi folks just ran with something that
they knew was not factual.

I wouldn’t put the blame on either Gov. Palin or Press Secretary Stapleton.

I’d put it square on the Simi Valley Republican Women for promoting her appearance without getting a firm confirmation.

I should have learned from the CPAC episode. I ASSUMED that once Sarah was free she would be able to attend events like the one on August 8th.

I will never ASSUME that any longer.

But when non-elites
read stuff like this (yesterday)
they might be mislead:

The AP reported her first order of business as a private citizen is to speak Aug. 8 at the Ronald Reagan Presidential Library in California. She also wants to campaign for political candidates from coast to coast, and continue to speak her mind on the social networking site Twitter, one of her favorite venues to reach out to supporters. *

We know Palin's staff
doesn't trust the press. They should
have stomped this sooner.

You are grasping for another excuse to bash Palin.
Nice try.

Deserves repeating. She can draw huge crowds of admirers anywhere. She has a new life, it's hers to decide what to do.

She can do whatever she wants, and if she wants a break right now to be with her family, God Bless her for doing so. After the shear hell she has been through I would want a long vacation too. Whatever she decides to do I will support her, because she is a wonderful human being and I admire her so much for having more grace through all this then I would ever have having to go through the same thing

Check out this site to see what Sarah has to deal with. I don’t care that you don’t support her for President, that is fine by me, but doing what this site is doing should be illegal..Just spotted this today

http://www.srlc2010.com/

The Southern Republican Leadership Conference in New Orleans has an event on April 8th through the 11th 2010. They have Sarah’s face plastered all over that site as if she is attending
Let me guess, Sarah Palin has already confirmed she is going to event that is almost a year away. yeah right..I don’t know what my plans are for tomorrow better yet a year away. These places are using her name and likeness to get publicity and that is WRONG

Leaders don’t allow rumors to fester.

Leaders give clear answers on whether they will attend an event.

Leaders are able to take control of a sitution and not allow the media to spin it.

Is Sarah Palin a leader or whining victim?

She is a leader. You are a dipstick.

You live in 1974, She lives in 2009.

She is not a victim, and you soon will be.

DanZanRyu is a concern troll. But he is a Huckabee anti-Palin troll not Romney, he is here to take out Palin and Jindal and any other conservative that he can bring down, Crist and Pawlenty are also on his favorable list.

Yep sure did. Still doesn’t absolve the incompetency of the Palin group to let the Simi Valley group linger without a definite yes or no. That said it doesn’t absolve the Simi Valley group either but for the Palin group to allow the charade to linger is wrong, wrong, wrong. If they are going to play on the national stage then they need to move up a few notches in capibilities.

You don’t drag out the hope of a group like this that are strong supporters and let them linger in limbo. How much effort does it take to say no we aren’t going to be there and participate?..... Not much, a letter, registered if necessary and be done with it.

The Palin camp did not “drag out the hope”; the statement clearly states they asked the group to take her off the invites “a few weeks ago.” How would you interpret somebody asking you to take their name off an invitation?

You are a lemming of the media, a media that has relentlessly and repeatedly “made up” that she is going to this event. Even though all event materials and all Palin spokespeople said she was not confirmed.

Materials also incidentally stated “no refunds.” I find it intriguing that the Simi Valley statement today now says they will refund $$. I wonder if SarahPac is covering the refunds?

IF (and that’s a total IF, let’s not spread my own speculation as truth) that’s the case, then she would not have alienated them at all.

Why didn’t they just decline the invite “a few weeks ago”? Then there would be no reason to ask that the name be removed from the invite as it would be clear she wasn’t attending. Hemming and hawing about something like this isn’t the way to handle it. You set a deadline in which to either give a positive or negative answer and stick with it. Why would she string a group such as this along up to a week before an important event like this? Not a smart thing to do.
