Kevin, you're right re the Kenyan citizenship. At the time of his birth, Barack Obama was the son of a British subject like every American president up to Martin van Buren. I believe, under certain interpretations of Britain's revised nationality law, President Obama would qualify as a "British Overseas Citizen" for whatever that's worth (unlike most other countries, where it's merely a rhetorical term, Britain has literal and official categories of third-class citizenship).
But the rest of Andy's piece I found most interesting. It's the story of a self-invented man, a kind of Gatsby for the multiculti age who appears fully-formed on the world stage and for whom the first few decades of his short existence are mostly a source of misty watercolored but highly calculated anecdotage that, when you try to pin it down, seems to wiggle free of such humdrum earthbound concepts as facts.
Do I think he was born in Hawaii? Yes if only because the alternative is way too audacious (to use an Obama-ism) to contemplate.
But do I think there's something on the long-form birth certificate he doesn't want us to see? Yes. That would seem entirely likely and consistent with his modus operandi.
As for the alleged "kookiness" of birthers, a true conspiracy theorist would surely believe that Obama deliberately started the birth-certificate business in order to make it easier to dismiss his opponents as deranged.

Why? Mark Steyn clearly states
..."But do I think there's something on the long-form birth certificate he doesn't want us to see? Yes."
I make no assumptions as it to what on it...just that there no reason for Obama not to release it...
Have read almost every comment here on this.
Millions is nothing to this guy. It’s a small price to keep a bunch of conservatives busy (watch this hand, not that one). I loath him as much as you all, but nobody in power is going to touch this.
And his socialism will stay even if he is impeached. The office installed it, not the man. So what will really be gained from all this? We have far more urgent matters to worry about.
I used it tongue in cheek. You used it as if it has some intrinsic value. I guess it does to the left. Because they use it to paint everyone from the congresscritters that are sponsoring a bill to require a BC to run for Potus, to Lou Dobbs who thinks Obama is US born yet still demands he prove it, to Rush who just points out the fact that Obama has not released his BC, to those like Berg who have the more implausible theory of Kenyan birth. So alas, Steyn agrees with Andy Mccarthy and will forever be a “birther” to those who don’t understand the issues invoved. Like you.
Perhaps something. But otherwise entirely inconsequential.
I am so sad. Mark Steyn was my hero, but he’s not as brave as I thought he was.
And that’s what it is people, it’s bravery. It’s a fear of being lumped into a group that is being mocked and more and more conservatives have jumped on the ‘Those are the loons’ bandwagon.
And one that appears to be working rather well.
“As for the alleged “kookiness” of birthers, a true conspiracy theorist would surely believe that Obama deliberately started the birth-certificate business in order to make it easier to dismiss his opponents as deranged.”
Don’t think that thought hasn’t crossed our mind.
I’ll say it again (until hopefully some rich gal or guy will have the money and passport to follow up and check it out) that I think he was born in Canada to take advantage of the FREE BIRTH that Canadian healthcare would have provided and that she would be full aware of having lived in Seattle prior to their move to Hawaii.
Without medicaid, wouldn’t it make more sense to fly her to Canada than try to pay for a hospital stay (and back then it was at least three days after a birth) and care on a Kenyan student’s (non) income?
I like that people are saying that even if he was born in Hawaii, he should still release his birth certificate. It destroys the claim that the only reason to release the BC is to prove that he’s a “natural born Citizen”.
Oh yeah, and that would also explain her trip to her friend’s house in Seattle right after Obama was born.
Don't be silly. That would require real work.
Narcissistic moral posturing however, is easy.
Polarik makes his living with graphics, he’s about as expert as they come. He even made the photograph “birth certificate” that factcheck.org showed have two extra “Seals” to show it COULD be done.
Look up Polarik in the top right hand corner and you can see his information. It’s really top notch.
You are misreading his piece
Now wait a minute. He did say Oboma should release his records. There's no reason for him not to. He believes Oboma, but also understands people have questions that need to be answered.
I don't remember what show he was on when he said it. I was just glad he, at least, suggested Oboma pony up.
In a way, he played both sides eloquently.
You are misreading my statement
“..says that he thinks Obama was born in Hawaii,..”
.
Here is a US citizen who actually has to guess where the POTUS is born. What kind of a country have we become? All that needs to happen is for Congress to demand that Obamaumau reveal his identity and the whole guessing game will be over.
It’s the congress critters who are keeping this info from the American people. They are an important part of the conspiracy to keep the truth of 0bama’s identity hidden.
So now Barry is a hybrid?
What is the narrative next week?
