"A truly free and independent press is the red beating heart of democracy and freedom," Rather said in an interview. We haven't had that since the early 60s. But he is right. The lack of an independent press gave us the TOTUS-reading racist fuhrer.
But he is also right about the Red heart of journalism.

Maybe, just maybe, if the prima donna high profile media celebutards should work for the national average salary instead of demanding millions per year and perquisites that only kings dream of the media wouldn't be in such financial trouble. Then again, maybe they just aren't selling what people want to buy anymore.

Do we wonder why the Media keep carrying Obama’s water, even when it completely defies logic for them to do so?
Well, this is the reason: Obama is going to save their dying industry. Why would he do that?
Because he Owes them One. It’s the Chicago way.
They have now made themselves indispensable to Obama and to his Administration. Now they have named the price of their continued loyalty.
It is an offer he can’t — won’t — refuse.
